Primark-Sweatshops
Using this image I have targeted the large franchise ‘Primark’, referencing there controversial use of child labour and sweatshops in India where the company has been found to charge up to as little as 60p per day for the use of child workers. To portray this I have sourced an image of some children modelling for a piece of Primark advertisement as they quote their low prices, using this I had manipulated the image adding the text ‘SWEATSHOP” in the same colour and font that the poster had used. Though this is a small change it has adapted the entire meaning of the piece, making the audience view the low prices as a negative, as they have been forced associate that price with sweatshops. I had used the image of the children as it I had hoped it would introduce the theme of child labour to the audience, as it is children making cheap clothes for children. However I feel that from this view the child labour subject is not clear enough to create any associate or impact, just the sweatshops. To improve this I would have used the text “CHILD-LABOUR”.
